Coby Adams Sweeps USCS 600 Stops at Carolina Speedway in 2015

GASTONIA, N.C. – October 30, 2015 - Chris Seelman photo - Coby Adams completed a sweep of the 2015 www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Series events at Carolina Speedway on Friday night, driving past Brandon Taylor into the lead with three laps to go and never looking back en route to a win in front of his hometown crowd.

The win in the Destiny Stafford Memorial Race was Adams’ series-leading fourth of the season at the controls of the J Bright Racing No. 25, his second-straight at Carolina and fifth-career in USCS competition.

“I feel bad for Brandon; we just got done working on his motor and for it to go up in smoke like that, something must have happened,” Adams said in www.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane. “We’ll take it back to the shop and put my personal engine in his car – get him going again for tomorrow night.”

“As far as our night though, we struggled a lot early in the night, but we finally hit on something before the main and you know what they say – all that really matters is what you do in the race.”

The only caution of the night came just after Adams took the lead from Taylor, when the Cumming, Ga. native blew the motor in his No. 07 micro sprint and was forced to retire to the pit area.

Series points leader Remeno Loyal, from Snellville, Ga., chased Adams home in the runner-up spot ahead of former USCS 600 regional champion Bob Trapino, who came home third. Local Mooresville, N.C. driver Tim Nye ended up fourth and Belmont, N.C. young gun Jackson Wellman rounded out the top five.

Taylor’s engine failure relegated him to sixth in the final rundown, just ahead of Fayetteville, N.C. hotshoe Matt Carr, who rounded out the cars starting the main event in seventh.

K&N Filters polesitter Matt Supan, from Concord, N.C., did not start the main event after a mechanical failure sidelined him before the start of the big show.

Loyal kicked off the night by grabbing the win in the Hoosier Tire Speed Dash, and Taylor took the win in the Engler Machine and Tool Heat Race.

Wellman was the provisional polesitter after scoring the most passing points in heat race action, but when a four was rolled on the K&N Inversion Die, Supan received the K&N Filters Pole Award. Adams passed the most cars in the main event (four) to garner the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award.
