David Hall captures USCS 600 Sprint “Rockin with the Stars” win at Smoky Mountain PDF Print E-mail
USCS600Hall4.23.16.jpgMaryville, TN – Saturday, April 23, 2016 – Florida mini sprint racer David Hall raced to a win in the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series main event on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway. The win came during only the 2nd ever appearance of the USCS mini sprints at the high banked 4/10 mile East Tennessee oval. Hall completed a weekend sweep for his team Hall was driving Dirk Miller’s #67 Todd’s Tomatoes team car. Miller won at I-75 Raceway on Friday night.
After K&N Filters Pole Position starter Tommy Thompson from Ten Mile, Tennessee flipped in turn two of the initial lap, Hall charged into the lead on the second attempt from his outside front row starting position. Hall never looked back until he parked his screaming mount in thewww.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane after 15 laps. The race for second place was intense behind Hall with drivers three wide at times. 

Dirk Miller in the Todd’s Tomatoes #68 kept it close with a runner-up finish behind his team-mate. The 2015 USCS 600 Sprint Car Series Champion and current points leader in the 2016 title chase, Remeno Loyal from Snellville, Georgia followed Miller in third place. Atlanta, Georgia’s Matt McCullough crossed the finish line in the fourth spot after a runner-up finish on the previous night. Aubrey Black II from Lookout Mountain, Georgia rounded out the top five drivers. 

Kyle Amerson from Montgomery, Alabama who won the season opener at Magnolia Motor Speedway on February 27th, finished in sixth place this time. Current USCS 600 Sprint Rookie point’s leader, 12 year-old Conner Morrell from Englewood, Florida followed in seventh place. Michael Barton from Castilian Springs, Tennessee who was the 2015 USCS 600 Sprint Rookie of the Year driver finished eighth. Tommy Thompson got credit for ninth place. Alpharetta; Georgia’s Bob Trapino was credited with tenth place after dropping out with mechanical issues. 

After heat race acrion, Tommy Thompson grabbed the K&N Filters Pole Position and the Award. Matt McCullough earlier in the evening won the Engler Machine and Tool Heat Race for the series.
