Robbie Smith races to 2nd career USCS 600 win @ Needmore PDF Print E-mail
USCS600SmithRobbie4.14.16.jpgNorman Park, GA – Friday, May 14th, 2016 - Young gun Robbie Smith, from Ocala, Florida raced to his career second USCS 600 Sprint Car Series win at Needmore Speedway in the USCS Sprint Car Speed Spectacular finals. Smith parked his #77 winged mini sprint in the USCS Victory Lane proudly before a standing room only crowd at the 4/10th mile D-shaped clay oval in the farming community of Norman Park, Georgia. 

Smith started sixth on the grid and took up the chase after early race leader Robby Hoffman from Tampa, Florida who had bested K&N Filters Pole Position starter Conner Morrell for the lead in turn one of the initial lap. Smith caught Hoffman on lap five and made the winning pass and never looked back in route to the checkers in a caution free 15-lap event.
Hoffman chased Smith to the finish line in the runner-up spot. The previous night’s winner and defending series Champion, Remeno Loyal from Snellville, Georgia followed in the K&N Filters Podium Award third place. Conner Morrell from Bradenton, Florida who leads the series Rookie f the Year point standings finished in fourth place. A previous 2016 USCS winner, Dirk Miller from Tampa, Florida rounded out the top five drivers. 

Another 2016 feature winner, David Hall from Castleberry, Florida led the next group in sixth place. John Kahl from Ocala, Florida finish seventh in his first USCS start. The series 2015 Rookie of the Year, Mike Barton from Castilian Springs, Tennessee was eighth. Bobby Zaiontz from Columbus, Mississippi followed in ninth place and second heat winner, Matt McCullough from Atlanta, Georgia completed the top ten finishers. 

Two time series past Champion, Bobby Zaiontz kicked off the evening’s USCS 600 sprint action by winning the Hoosier Speed Dash. Robbie Smith won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. The Second Heat was won by Matt McCullough. 

The next USCS 600 Sprint Car Series event is at famed Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama. On the following night the series moves West to Columbus, Mississippi for action during the USCS Freakin’ Fast Friday at Magnolia Motor Speedway.
