Amerson collects USCS 600 Thursday Thunder win at Talladega PDF Print E-mail

Eastaboga, AL – June 2, 2016 – Young gun Kyle Amerson collected his second USCS 600 Sprint Car Series feature win of the year in the mini sprint portion of USCS “Thursday Thunder” at Talladega Short Track on Thursday night. 

Amerson, advanced to the runner-up spot after starting fourth and passing K&N Filters Pole Position starter and early leader Matt McCullough from Atlanta, GA by lap five then took up the chase after third starting Bobby Zaiontz from Columbus, MS. Zaiontz had passed the front row of McCullough and John Crowder from Summerfield, FL on lap one to grab the point.

Amerson chased Zaiontz for the next twelve laps and re-started in the runner-up spot twice after caution periods on laps eleven and thirteen. Ir wasn’t until lap seventeen when the Alabama young gun saw his fortunes improve when Zaiontz, a two-time series Champion, coasted to a stop with a broken chain with three to go after leading the first seventeen laps of the twenty-lap contest. After the caution period to clear Zaiontz’s mount from the rcing surface, Amerson cruiesed the final three laps to the USCS Victory Lane.

Another 2016 series winner David Hall from Castleberry, FL followed Amerson across the finish line in the runner-up spot. Aubrey Black II from Chattanooga, TN crossed in the K&N Filters Podium Award third place. Hall’s team-mate also a previous 2016 winner, Dirk Miller from Tampa, FL finished in fourth and Matt McCullough from Atlanta, GA rounded out the top five drivers.

The current Rookie of the Year points leader, Conner Morrell from Bradenton, FL led the next five drivers in sixth place.  John Kahl from Ocala, FL was next in seventh followed by Alpharetta, GA veteran racer Bob Trapino in eighth place. Florida veteran mini sprint racer, John Crowder from Ocala, FL finished in ninth. The 2015 USCS 600 sprint car Rookie of the Year, Mike Barton who hails from Castilian Springs, TN completed the top ten drivers.

David Hall kicked pf the evening’s mini sprint racing action by winning the Hoosier Speed Dash. Paige Moss won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Kyle Amerson completed the preliminaries by capturing the Second Heat.

After heat race action, Robby Hoffman fromTMP, Florida had earned the post passing/qualifying points. Engler Machine and Tool First Heat winner, Paige Moss rolled a six on the K&N Filters Pole Award die and gave Matt McCullogh the K&N Filters Pole Award and starting position. Current USCS 600 sprint Rookie points leader Conner Morrell from Bradenton, Florida was the .
