YOUNG DRIVES TO CLEAN AND GREEN USCS 600 WIN AT THE MAG PDF Print E-mail

COLUMBUS, MS – March 4, 2017 - Dusty Young from Benton, AR started third, took the lead on lap ten, and led the rest of the way to win the 25-lap www.RockUAuto.com USCS 600 Mini Sprint A-Main on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway.  The race went clean and green for all 25 tours around the “Black Ice” surface of the 3/8 mile oval that took just over six minutes to complete. He then parked David Zarski’s famed #131 racer in the www.RockAuto.com USCS Victory Lane for photos.

Tucker Boulton led the first nine laps of the race, but had to settle for the second spot at the checkered flag.  Kyle Carpenter from Baldwyn, MS took the third spot. Two-time USCS 600 Sprint Car Series Champion, Bobby Zaiontz of Columbus, MS was fourth, and 11-year-old Connor Morrell of Bradenton, FL capped off a successful weekend with a fifth-place finish.  Morrell won the season opener on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS.

 

Santa Rosa Beach, Florida’s Michael Ward finished in the sixth spot to lead the second group. Seventh place went to Bob Trapino from  Alpharetta, GA.  Renzi, Mississippi’s Darl Parvin drove to an eighth-place finish, Rookies Alex Lyles wasand  ninth, and second generation driver Landon Crawley from Benton, AR  rounded out the top ten.  In preliminary action,

 

Conner Morrell won the four-lap Hoosier Speed Dash, and Zaiontz won the eight-lap Engler Machine and Tool First Heat race. Dusty Young passed the most cars to garner the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award.

 

Young’s margin of victory over Boulton at the checkered flag was 3.747 seconds.  The next two events on the 2017 schedule for the www.RockAuto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series racers will be at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL on Friday night, March 31, and on Saturday night, April 1.
