Derek Hagar raced to his 46th United Sprint Car Series career win in the USCS Sprint Speedweek Round #4 at Clayhill Speedway on Memorial Day Monday (USCS file photo)

Atwood, TN – May 29, 2017 – Derek Hagar scored his second United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters win of the 2017 season by racing from the K&N Filters Pole Position into the www.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane in the USCS Sprint Speedweek 2017 Round #4 on Monday night at Clayhill Speedway. Hagar who was the 2013 USCS National Champion, raced into the lead in turn one of the initial lap and never trailed again on the way to his 46th career USCS main event win. He is fourth on the all-time USCS winnner’s list.

Saturday night’s USCS Sprint Speedweek winner at Jackson Motor Speedway, Tim Crawley from Benton, AR charged from the sixth starting position into the runner-up spot at the finish line after chasing and challenging Hagar throughout the contest. Brad Bowden from Hernando, MS finished behind Crawley in the K&N Filters Podium Award third place. Marshall Skinner who won the opening USCS Sprint Speedweek 2017 round followed Bowden in fourth place to stay in contention in the seven race mini-series points chase. Defending USCS series Champion, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee followed Skinner to the line to round out the top five.

Sprint car racing legend, Sammy Swindell from Germantown, TN headed the next group in sixth place followed by the current USCS Southern Thunder regional series point leader, Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, AR who finished in seventh place. Dale Howard from Byhalia, MS chased those seven other veteran drivers to the finish line in eighth place. The 2015 Riverside International Speedway track Champion, Andy McElhannon from Hernando, MS followed in ninth place and Bartlett, Tennessee’s 11-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray rounded out the top ten finishers.

Tim Crawley won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Morgan Turpen collected the top finish in the Brown and Miller Racing Solutions Second Heat. Brad Bowden then closed out the qualifying heat race action by collecting the victory in the Butlerbuilt Third Heat.

Tim Crawley earned the most passing points in the heat race action. As the first heat race-winner, Crawley drew a six in the K&N Filters Pole Award drawing. This unfortunate occurrence inverted Crawley, to the sixth place starting position and placed Derek Hagar on the K&N Filters Pole Position. Crawley started sixth and passed four cars, earning him the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award.
