Andy McElhannon gets career-first USCS win at Columbus. PDF Print E-mail

Columbus, MS - Friday, July 7, 2017 - Andy McElhannon from Hernando, MS sored his career first United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters main event win at historic Columbus Speedway on Friday night. USCS presented by K&N  Filters Outlaw Thunder Tour Sprint Cars results: at Columbus 0Speedway on 7-07-2017  McElhannon, who was the 2015 Riverisde Int, Speedway traack Champion, held of the charges of 2013 USCS Natinal Champion, Derek Hagar from Marion, AR and Defending and  two-time USCS National Champion, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, TN for the win. Brad Bowden from Hernando, MS  followed those three drivers in fourth place and current USCS National poits title contender, Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, AR rounded out the top five drivers..

Memphis, TN young gun Howard Mooreled the next group in sixth place. Biloxi, MS driver Shane Morgan follwed in seventh place with  11-time series National Champion from Brtlett, TN in eighth place. Past series Champion, Marshall Skinner from Marion, AR follwed Gray in ni ninth place and Ronny Howard from Nesbit, MS rounded out the top ten drivers for the 30-lap event. 

In the night's preliminary action,  Derek Hagar kicked of the evenings action with a win in the USCS Hoosier Tire Soeed Dash. Tim Crawley won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. McElhannon won the Drown and Miller Racing Solutions Second Heat and Shane Morgan won  the third and final Schoenfeld Headers heat race. 
 
Tim Crawley was scheduled to start on the K&N Filters Pole Position after winning the first heat, and drawing himself to the K&N Filtes Pole Award inversion drawing., but severe back problems saw him start dead last and pull in. early in Mike Ward's #88.  Hometown rookie driver Curt Schumacher from Columbus, MS passed the most cars in  the main event to garner the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award.
