Loxley, AL – Friday,
May 17, 2019 – Justin Barger from Cornelius, North Carolina raced from his
outside front row starting position into the www.RockAuto.com
USCS Victory Lane in the 25-lap USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N
Filters winged sprint car main event during the USCS Fast Friday event at Deep
South Speedway on Friday night. It was Barger’s first USCS win of the 2019
season. He won the USCS season finale at Bubba Raceway Park last November. It
was also the first-ever stop for the United Sprint Car Series at the Loxley,
Alabama speed plant.
Versatile dirt and
pavement hot-shoe, Joey Schmidt from Ellisville, Mississippi chased Barger
across the finish line after a late race caution put him on the New York
transplants back bumper for a final dash to the finish. Mark Ruel, Jr. who
started from the K&N Filters Pole Position, followed Schmidt in the K&N
Filters Podium award third place. USCS Southern Thunder Tour regional points
leader, Johnny Bridges from Cherryville, North Carolina was fourth at the end
after starting seventh and the 2015 USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour Rookie of the
Year, Nick Snyder from Marco Island, Florida rounded out the top five drivers.
Pendergrass, Georgia’s
Jeff Oliver led the next group in sixth place followed by 11-time USCS National
Champion and current National points leader, Terry Gray from Bartlett,
Tennessee in seventh place. Jeff Willingham from Ripley, Mississippi, who was
the 2012 USCS Rookie of the Year, finished in eighth followed by Tony Agin from
Fort Myers, Florida in ninth place. Brandon Blendon from Biloxi, Mississippi completed
the top ten finishers.
Nick Snyder kicked of
the evening’s sprint car action by winning the USCS Hoosier Tire Speed Dash.
Terry Gray then won the Engler Machine and Tool First qualifying heat race.
Tony Agin caped off the qualifying rounds by winning the Brown and Miller
Racing Solutions Second Heat. Johnny Bridges advanced the most positions in the
man event to garner the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award.
The United Sprint Car Series
presented by K&N Filters moves over to Southern Raceway in Milton, Florida
for Saturday night’s weekend finale as headliners of the Armed Forces night at
the 1/3 mile Gulf Coast Oval.
