Stephens wins Rislone USCS MOD Speedweek round 4 @ Riverside PDF Print E-mail
USCSOWmStephensMark70909.jpgJuly 9, 2009 – West Memphis, AR – Mark Stephens from Arlington, Tennessee bested a thirty-one car field of top open wheel modified drivers from four states on Thursday night to capture his career-first Rislone USCS Modifed Touring Series feature win in the Rislone USCS Modified Speedweek Round Four. The race was part of the Parts Plus USCS Topless Challenge at Riverside International Speedway and paid Stephens $1000 for the win plus $500 for winning main event “Topless”. Stephens passed both Duke and Mike Palasini from Leland, Mississippi on lap one then got by K&N Filters Pole Position starter Joseph Leister from Olive Branch, Mississippi for the lead on lap two of the 25-lap affair.
Stephens then lead the balance of the race to victory lane. Chris Moore from Nesbit, Mississippi started fifth and finished in the runner-up spot. 2008 series Champion, Ashley Newman from Ripley, Tennessee finished in third place. Brandon Poppenheimer also from Nesbit, Mississippi started tenth and finished fourth. Jon Stinson who started back in the fifteenth position advanced past ten cars to round out the top five drivers.

Casey Rowland from Nesbit, Mississippi won the Tennison Brothers B-Main. He then started twenty-first in the field and raced his way up to sixth place at the finish. The seventh position went to current Speedweek 2009 point’s leader. T.J. Herndon from Atwood, Tennessee. Current Rislone USCS Modified Touring Series point’s leader Hunter Rasdon from Jonesboro, Arkansas followed in eighth place. Jeff Waller from Arlington, Tennessee finished in the ninth position after starting in the thirteenth row. Veteran Bobby Allen from Mason, Tennessee rounded out the top ten.

Joseph Leister won the 6 cars, 6 laps Rislone USCS Modified Power Dash. Mark Stephens won the Aero Race Wheels First Heat Race. Mike Palasini won the Racing Head Service Second Heat Race. Duke Palasini won the Bar’s Leaks Third Heat Race. Joseph Leister won the FSR Racing Products Fourth Heat Race. The Comp Cams Fifth Heat winner was Chris Moore. Jeff Waller claimed the Comp Cams Hard Charger Award after racing from his 25th place staring position into the 9th place finishing position. The Tennison Brothers Metals Hard Luck Award went to Richard Kinney from Bells, Tennessee.
