MORGAN TURPEN WINS USCS 2017 SEASON OPENER AT HATTIESBURG

HATTIESBURG, MS – March 3, 2017 - Two-time and defending United Sprint Car Series National Champion Morgan Turpen of Cordova, TN served notice on Friday night that she is looking for a third-straight title. Turpen started from the K&N Filters Pole Position, then led all 30 laps to race into the www.RockAuto.com USCS Victory Lane after the 2017USCS season opener at Hattiesburg Speedway. The win was Turpen’s 13th career USCS feature win.  The 2016 USCS Rookie of the Year, 14-tear-old Danny Sams III of Englewood, FL showed that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with in his sophomore season with a second-place finish and a win in the Butlerbuilt Eight-Lap Third Heat Race.  Sams outran a future first ballot Hall of Fame Inductee that was a surprise late entry.

Tony Stewart of Columbus, IN started fifth and finished third, as he begins a new chapter in his storied racing career.  After winning three NASCAR Championships and an Indy-Car title, Stewart retired from those forms of racing to return to his racing roots to “have fun, race when he wants, and where he wants.”

HAGAR AND MALLETT TAKE USCS WINS IN FLIP FLP 50 AT RIVERSIDE

WEST MEMPHIS, AR - November 12, 2016 - There was a lot of business to be taken care of in the United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Tour Presented by K&N Filters 2016 season finale with two main events making up the Flip Flop 50 and a National Championship to be decided on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway.  The 2013 USCS National Champion, Derek Hagar of Marion, AR took the Flip and past USCS Rookie of the Year, Jordon Mallet of Greenbrier, AR won the Flop portions of the unique Flip Flop 50 twin-25 lap format of main events.. It appears that 2015 USCS National Champion Morgan Turpen of Cordova, TN won her second straightUSCS National Championship after a hard fought battle during the entire 20th Anniversary Season for the series with her mentor and teammate, 11-time USCS National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN by only tw points. An audit of the points awarded at each event during the 2016 season will later in the week confirm the Championship before an official announcement is made.

TREY STARKS HAS PERFECT SCORE IN USCS SPRINTS ONEDIRT.com WORLD SHORT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

CHARLOTTE, NC – October 22, 2016 – Trey Starks of Puyallup, WA was Mr. Perfect in the OneDirt.com World Short Track Championships for the United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters on both Friday and Saturday nights at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Starks capped off the clean sweep of the weekend on Saturday night with the win in the 25-lap Comp Cams sponsored sprint car main event by leading wire-to-wire.  It was the fourth win of the season for Starks during the 2016 20th Anniversary USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour.  In two nights of competition, Starks seemingly had none. Starks started the Friday night action by setting fast time honors with a lap around the 4/10-mile clay oval in 14.748 seconds.  After being inverted to the fourth position for the heat race start, he then led all eight laps to win the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat Race.  That earned him the pole position for Saturday night’s K&N Filters USCSPole Scramble.  Once again, Starks went unchallenged, leading all 12 laps for the win and earning the K&N Filters Pole Award for the A-Main.

STARKS SETS FAST TIME, WINS HEAT FOR USCS CHARLOTTE QUALIFYING NIGHT

CHARLOTTE, NC – October 21, 2016 – Trey Starks of Puyallup, WA showed in Friday night preliminary action that he is the man to beat in Saturday night’s United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour Presented by K&N Filters main event in the One Dirt.com Short Track World Championship Race at The Dirt Track At Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Starks set fast time with a lap around the 3/8-mile clay oval in 14.748 seconds, and then won theEngler Machine & Tool first eight-lap Heat Race.  That earned Starks the pole position for the Pole Scramble Race that will be held on Saturday night prior to the main event to determine the first 12 starting spots for the Big Show.

CRAWLEY IS THE USCS KING OF THE HILL WITH SECOND CLAYHILL WIN OF 2016

ATWOOD, TN – October 15, 2016 – Tim Crawley of Benton, AR was crowned the United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour Presented by K&N Filters “King of the Hill” on Saturday night with a trip to thewww.RockAuto.com Victory Lane victory in the USCS 25-lap main event at Clayhill Motorsports.  It was the second win for the 2012 USCS National Champion during the 2016 20th Anniversary season at the West Tennessee clay oval.

 

For the first half of the race, Crawley was settled into the third spot behind early race leader Dale Howard of Byhalia, MS and Derek Hagar of Marion, AR.  Hagar dropped out of the race on lap 16, and Crawley camped out behind Howard on the high side of the race track until lap 22 when he dove for the bottom groove.

BJ GATEWOOD WINS AT CLAYHILL

Atwood, TN – October 15, 2016 - B.J. Gatewood of Caruthersville, MO took a wire-to-wire win in the 20-lap www.RockAuto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series main event to collect the $1000 winner’s paycheck. It was Gatewood’s career first series win. Gatewood put on quite a show on the front stretch for the fans before his photo op in the USCS King of the Hill Crown, Robe and Scepter.

 Kyle Carpenter of Baldwyn, MS took the $ 500 second spot and long distance traveler Jim Young of Johnstown, PA finished in the K&N Filters Podium Award third place. Fourth-place went to two-time former series Champion Bobby Zaiontz of Columbus, MS, and Bob Trapino of Alpharetta, GA rounded out the top five.

ASHLEY NEWMAN LEADS USCS MODIFIEDS AT CLAYHILL

Atwood, TN – October 15, 2016 - Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN won the 25-lap USCS King of the Hill main event for the K&N Filters USCS Outlaw Modified Series on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports. Newman, who was the series 2008 Champion before moving on to Late Models, recently hooked up with 2014 K&N USCS Modified Rookie of the Year Preston Seratt for a ride in the inaugural USCS King of the Hill event at the track. It was Newman’s first trip to the www.RockAuto.com USCS Victory Lane in a number of seasons and the win and celebration was popular with this group of West Tennessee race fans.

EASTABOGA, AL - October 8, 2016 – Derek Hagar of Marion, AR took his seventh win of the 2016 20thAnniversary United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour Presented by K&N Filters on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.  Hagar battled side-by-side with Marshall Skinner of Marion, AR early in the caution-free 30 lap race, but he took the lead for good on lap six, and drove to the checkered flag unchallenged.

BOBBY Z TAKES WIRE-TO-WIRE WIN AT TALLADEGA

Two-time series Champion Bobby Zaiontz of Columbus, MS took a wire-to-wire win in the 20-lap main event.  Bob Trapino of Alpharetta, GA took the runner-up spot and Matt McCullough of Snellville, GA finished in the K&N Filters Podium Award third place.  Fourth-place went to Remeno Loyal of Snellville, GA, and Kyle Amerson of Montgomery, AL was fifth.

In USCS RockAuto.com 600 Mini Sprint action, Dirk Miller of Tampa, FL took the win, leading all 20 laps of the main event.  He previous night’s winner at Carolina Speedway, Jim Young of Johnstown, PA finished second after starting sixth in the main event. David Hall of Tampa, FL took the K&N Filters Podium Award third spot. Matt McCullough of Atlanta, GA was fourth. Jordan Howell of Columbia, MO. Was fifth.

STARKS PASSES THEM ALL FOR LAST TO FIRST USCS CHEROKEE SPEEDWAY WIN

GAFFNEY, SC - October 1, 2016 – Trey Starks of Puyallup, WA made a statement Saturday night in the 20th Anniversary United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour Presented by K&N Filters race at Cherokee Speedway by coming from the 20th and last starting spot to take the lead on lap 18 of the 30 lap race. He then charged the final 12 laps to park his Jeff McCall owned #23 in the www.Rockauto.comUSCS Victory Lane after his second straight USCS win. The victory was the 20-year driver’s career fifth USCS feature win.  Starks was the apparent winner of the Engler Machine and Tool First ten-lap Heat Race, but he failed to report to the scales for the post-race weigh in, and he was disqualified.  That put him on the tail of the 20-car starting line-up for the 30-lap main event.  That’s a long way to go, and a+++++++++++++ short time to get there!

TREY STARKS DOMINATES AT CAROLINA SPEEDWAY

GASTONIA, NC – September 30, 2016 - Trey Starks of Puyallup, WA put on a dominating performance on Friday night at Carolina Speedway in Jeff McCall’s #23 J&J Auto Racing sprint car to take his second United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour Presented by K&N Filters win of the season.  The third time was a charm for Starks, as he came so close to victory in his first two races at Carolina Speedway. When Starks parked in the www.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane to accept the $2000 winner check it ran his career USCS win total to four in just seven tries.  Friday night’s performance was so dominant, Starks lapped all but the top five cars in the 24-car field, and he was never challenged, leading all 30 laps of the main event on the USCS 20th Anniversary Tour after charging to the point on the first lap from his sixth starting spot.
