Sowell rides lightning to Clayhill win

USCSSowell6.11.09.jpgAtwood, TN – June 11, 2009 - Mississippi young gun Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi charged to his first Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series feature win of the 2009 season over a talent-laden field of drivers from five states to capture the “Thursday Thunder” sprint car portion of the “Clayhill Clash” at Clayhill Motorsports on Thursday night. The victory in the rain-shortened and lightning charged mid-week affair scheduled for 30-laps was Sowell’s third Parts Plus USCS career feature win.

Terry Gray captures Parts Plus USCS Speedweek 2009 title

Defending Parts Plus USCS Mid South Thunder Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas who started in the eleventh position race through field and chased Stewart over the last ten laps of the race. Crawley closed within two car lengths as the duo crossed the finish line but had his Greenville Speedway win streak stopped at three.

Palasini, Jr. wins Rislone USCS MOD contest at Greenville

USCSOWMPaslasini5.30.09.jpgGreenville, MS - May 30, 2009 - Mike Palasini, Jr. won the 25-lap Rislone USCS Modified Touring Series feature race at Greenville Speedway on Saturday night. Palasini set fast time and led every lap of the main event to best a strong field of 23 Rislone USCS Modifieds from four states. It was Palasini's first series victory.

Landers captures Rislone USCS Modified contest at Drew County

Landers bested a field of 37 top open wheel modified drivers from five states. Rislone USCS Modified touring Series points leader, Hunter Rasdon from Jonesboro, Arkansas finished in the runner-up spot three car lengths back.  Veteran Greg Hughes from West Plains, Missouri finished third followed by Peyton Taylor from Jonesboro, Arkansas in fourth and John Polasini from Lelenad, Mississippi rounded out the top five.

Simmons wins Rislone USCS Modified ?Sunday Speed Spectacular?

USCSSimmons5.24.09.jpgMay 24, 2009 - Tuscumbia, AL - Tony Simmons from Rogersville, Alabama won the 25-lap Rislone USCS Modified Touring Series feature race at North Alabama Speedway on Sunday night. Simmons got the hard fought win in the race after battling Robby Arnold from Paragould, Arkansas wheel to wheel on nearly every lap. The two veteran open wheel modified race drivers started side-by-side on the front row after Simmons set Aero Race Wheels Fast time of 15.567 seconds around the tacky 3/8 mile Alabama red clay oval. Arnold was second quick with a lap of 15.629.

Robby Arnold gets first 2009 Rislone USCS Weekly Racing Series win at Malden Speedway

Arnold’s team-mate Brad Buck also from Paragould followed the Flyin’ Fat Boy across the finish line in the runner-up spot. SE Missouri young gun, Austin Matthews from Dexter, Missouri finished third. Veteran  racer and former track Champion, Ronnie Vernon from Friendship, Tennessee was fourth and another former track champion, Larry Hull from Old Appleton, Missouri rounded out the top five.

Gray completes Parts Plus USCS Thunder in Carolina weekend double at Harris Speedway

USCSGray4.24.09.jpgHarris, NC - April 25, 2009 – Defending Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series National Champion completed a sweep of the Parts Plus USCS Thunder in Carolina double-header weekend with a win in the series main event on Saturday night at Harris Speedway in front of a near capacity crowd. It was Gray’s second feature win in as many nights after winning on Friday night at Carolina Speedway. Gray drove his sprint car to victory to collect his second win of the 2009 season as well over a field of twenty entries from eight states. The veteran from Bartlett, Tennessee drove his Rislone Oil Stabilizer sponsored Wesmar powered J&J Auto Racing black #10 past early race-leader, Tyler Godwin from Tampa, Florida on lap seven for the lead, then charged to victory lane in the 30-lap feature race. Godwin followed Gray across the finish line to garner his second runner-up spot in two nights.

It was the first USCS feature win of the season for Gray over a talent-laden field of twenty-nine competitors from eleven states that included two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart from Indianapolis, Indiana who set fast time and won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat Race in front of a near capacity crowd.

Blaze Martin races to three-in-a-row in Parts Plus USCS Asphalt Thunder at Florence

The 25-year old Martin collected $2100 for his efforts after setting fast time and holding off hard-charging 2008 USCS Rookie of the Year Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee in the 35-lap Night of Thunder Finale.
