Gray completes Carolina Double at Travelers Rest
USCSGray6.27.09.jpgTravelers Rest, SC – June 27, 2009 – Defending, Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee won the 30-lap Parts Plus USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour “Thunder in Carolinas” Round Six main-event at Travelers Rest Speedway on Saturday night. It was Gray’s second USCS feature win of the Carolina double-header weekend. Gray who started outside of the front row, drove his Rislone Oil Treatment sponsored #10 J&J Auto Racing car past K&N Pole Position starter Lance Moss from Cherryville, North Carolina down the front stretch on the initial start. He then held off challenges from Moss and rookie hot-shoe Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee to lead the way to victory lane.

It was Gray’s second USCS feature win at the speedy 4/10 mile Carolina clay oval this season. It was the 2007 Parts Plus USCS Rookie of the Year driver’s career-first feature win in the series. The night’s events commemorated the racing career of former United Sprint Car Series racer Randy Helton who passed away suddenly in March of 2008.

Gray collects Parts Plus USCS Penton win

USCSGray61909.jpgPENTON RACEWAY:  Penton, AL - June 19, 2009 - Defending Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series Champion, Terry Gray swept to victory lane in the 30-Lap Parts Plus USCS main event at Penton Raceway on Friday night. Gray drove his Rislone Oil Treatment sponsored Wesmar powered, J&J Auto Racing car into turn one  ahead of last week’s feature winner Marshall Skinner and commenced to wire the field with Skinner in pursuit for the next 30 laps. Rookie point’s leader Justin Carver finished third followed by 2008 Rookie of the Year, Anthony Nicholson and Matt Linder rounded out the top five.

The victory in the rain-shortened and lightning charged mid-week affair scheduled for 30-laps was Sowell’s third Parts Plus USCS career feature win.

Crawley closed within two car lengths as the duo crossed the finish line but had his Greenville Speedway win streak stopped at three.

Palasini set fast time and led every lap of the main event to best a strong field of 23 Rislone USCS Modifieds from four states. It was Palasini's first series victory.

Landers bested a field of 37 top open wheel modified drivers from five states. Rislone USCS Modified touring Series points leader, Hunter Rasdon from Jonesboro, Arkansas finished in the runner-up spot three car lengths back.  Veteran Greg Hughes from West Plains, Missouri finished third followed by Peyton Taylor from Jonesboro, Arkansas in fourth and John Polasini from Lelenad, Mississippi rounded out the top five.

Simmons wins Rislone USCS Modified ?Sunday Speed Spectacular?

USCSSimmons5.24.09.jpgMay 24, 2009 - Tuscumbia, AL - Tony Simmons from Rogersville, Alabama won the 25-lap Rislone USCS Modified Touring Series feature race at North Alabama Speedway on Sunday night. Simmons got the hard fought win in the race after battling Robby Arnold from Paragould, Arkansas wheel to wheel on nearly every lap. The two veteran open wheel modified race drivers started side-by-side on the front row after Simmons set Aero Race Wheels Fast time of 15.567 seconds around the tacky 3/8 mile Alabama red clay oval. Arnold was second quick with a lap of 15.629.
