A gathering of 110 people honored seventeen sprint car drivers including Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee who captured his seventh O'Reilly USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour National Championship.

Crawley sweeps Gumbo Nationals and Mid-South season finale at Greenville Speedway

USCSCrawleyNov01.08.jpgGreenville Mississippi – Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas won the O’Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series Gumbo Nationals 2008 www.uscsracing.com presented by Lucas Oil at Greenville Speedway on Saturday night. Crawley collected a $4400 paycheck for his efforts while besting a talented field that included drivers from eight states. Crawley completed a clean sweep of the weekend’s events by winning the six-car, six laps Lucas Oil Power Dash to place himself on the K&N Filters Pole for the 40-lap Gumbo Nationals finale. He then took full advantage of his starting position to dominate the race in the Ward Racing Boatersports sponsored #88 by leading every lap of the sprint car finale around the shiny black ¼ mile Gumbo clay oval. On Friday evening, Crawley set fast time and won the 12-lap Engler Machine and Tool First Qualifying race. Crawley was the inaugural Gumbo Nationals Champion winning last year’s title as well.

Landers wears 2008 Gumbo Nationals Rislone USCS Modified crown at Greenville Speedway

USCSOWMLanders11.01.2008.jpgGreenville Mississippi - November 1, 2008 - Open Wheel Modified hot-shoe, Jared Landers from Batesville, Arkansas won the Rislone USCS Modified Series www.uscsracing.com portion of the Gumbo Nationals at Greenville Speedway on Saturday night. Landers took home $2100 for his evening’s efforts after leading every lap of the Championship race around the ¼ mile Gumbo oval. Hard-charging Rislone USCS young gun Hunter Rasdon from Jonesboro, Arkansas who started the race from ninth position, challenged Landers over the final dozen laps and finished five car lengths behind Landers at the finish. Another talented young gun, Cody Rowland from Nesbit, Mississippi had a career-best third place finish after starting in the main event from the eighth position. Two Friday nights qualifying race winners Brooks Strength from Byron, Mississippi who finished in the fourth position and Billy Collett from Clinton, Mississippi rounded out the top five finishers.

Greenville Mississippi – October 31, 2008 - Chris Moore from Coldwater, Mississippi led the Rislone USCS Modified Series presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts
www.uscsracing.com presented time trial qualifying on Friday night at Greenville Speedway. Moore captured the Bar’s Leaks Fast Time Award in time trial qualifying by turning a lap of 16.50 seconds around the ¼ mile Gumbo clay oval. Surprisingly, upon completing his two-lap time trial, Moore then rolled several times off the end of the speedway in turn one ending his night with a severely damaged race car.

Crawley captured the RE Technologies Fast Tine Award in time trial qualifying by turning a lap of 13.87 seconds around the ¼ mile Gumbo clay oval. Crawley’s time was just five one hundredths of a second off the all-time Greenville Speedway track record of 13.82 set by Ernie Ainsworth from Memphis, Tennessee during the Gumbo Nationals 2007 qualifying.

Chris Moore Bags $2000 Trick or Treat Modified Nationals

USCSOWMMoorevlane101108.jpgOctober 11, 2008 - West Memphis, AR - Chris Moore from Coldwater, Mississippi went Trick or Treatin’ early on Saturday night and bagged the top prize of $2000 in the 35-lap Open Wheel Modified portion of the Trick or Treat Fall Nationals at the historic Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. Moore collected the $1500 top prize plus a $500 Rislone Oil Stabilizer bonus posted for pre-registering for the event. Moore bested a field of forty-three drivers from four states in the race billed as Modified World War I that pitted the weekly Modified drivers from Riverside Speedway against drivers from the Southern Modified Promotions Modified Series (SMP) and the Rislone USCS Modified Series in the Mid-South’s biggest Modified race of the year.

Crawley started outside of the front row and beat K&N Filters Pole starter and defending O'Reilly USCS Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee to the first turn and held on for the win and a $2000 paycheck in the 30-lap winged sprint car main event. It was Crawley’s eighth O’Reilly USCS feature win of the 2008 season.

USCSGray8.30.08.jpgBrasstown, NC – August 30, 2008 - Before the series second capacity crowd in two nights, O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series presented by Lucas Oil defending Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee raced to his second feature win in as many nights in Round Three of the O’Reilly USCS King of the Ovals Challenge at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina on Saturday night. Gray led the final ten laps of the 30-lap main event in his #10 Rislone/CnB Mushroom Farms/Wesmar powered J & J Auto Racing car after chasing Anthony Nicholson for the first twenty circuits around the tacky 1/3 mile clay oval for the win.
