Gray races to O'Reilly USCS Outlaw Thunder win and new track record at Volunteer Speedway

USCSGray7.19.08.jpgJuly 19, 2008 – Bulls Gap, TN - Six-time and defending O'Reilly USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee raced his way to victory lane in the 30-lap O'Reilly USCS Outlaw Thunder feature at Volunteer Speedway on Saturday night. Gray who had never raced at Joe Loven’s famed high-banked 4/10 mile East Tennessee red clay oval dominated the evening in his #10 Rislone/Bar’s Leaks sponsored Wesmar powered J&J Auto Racing car. He started the night off by setting a new Volunteer Speedway all-time track record and fast time of 11.67 seconds around the high-banked 4/10 mile oval. The torrid lap eclipsed by two one hundredths of a second the 16 month-old mark of 11.690 seconds set by Joey Saldana during the World of Outlaws 410 cubic inch race on March 24, 2007.

Lines captures second O'Reilly USCS win at Crossville Raceway

USCSLines7.18.80.jpgJuly 18, 2008 - Crossville, TN - Steven Lines from Melbourne, Australia won the second of the twin 20-lap features during the fourth annual O'Reilly USCS "Night of Thunder" winged sprint car event on Friday night at Crossville Raceway. Lines started fifth in the inverted field and raced past Lance Moss from Cherryville, North Carolina into the lead on lap six to make his second O'Reilly USCS victory lane visit of the 2008 season. Lines finished approximately six to eight car lenghts ahead of Moss for the win. The evening's first featue race winner, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee followed in third place after starting seventh. Three-time 2008 series feature winner, Johnny Bridges fom Cherryville, North Carolina finished fourth and Ronnie Blair from Dayton, Ohio who was the runner-up in the first main event rounded out the top five.

RASDON RACES TO RISLONE USCS MOD SPEEDWEEK ROUND FOUR WIN AT RIVERSIDE

USCSOWMRasdon7.10.08.jpgJuly 10, 2008 - West Memphis, AR - Hunter Rasdon from Jonesboro, Arkansas won the 25-lap Rislone USCS Modified Series Speedweek Round Four at Riverside International Speedway on Thursday night. Rasdon's first career win in the series came over a talented field of drivers from four states. The twenty year-old driver started on the front row and led every lap to hold off hard-charging Duke Palasini from Greenville, Mississippi who won last Saturday's Round Three event at Greenville Speedway. Chris Moore from Nesbit, Mississippi who started 17th finished in third place in the main event, followed by current series points leader, Ashley Newman from Ripley, Tennessee in fourth and Brandon Poppenheimer from Memphis, Tennessee rounded out the top five.

Crawley gets two out of three in USCS Triple Crown Challenge at Riverside

USCSCrawley7.10.08.jpgJuly 10, 2008 - West Memphis, AR- O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series Mid-South Thunder point’s leader, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas got two-thirds of the way to the $10,000 top prize in the Lucas Oil Triple Crown Challenge event at Riverside Speedway on Thursday night. Crawley won the Riverside Stock Cars first heat race and dominated the 15-lap feature race in that event. After winning the Lucas Oil Power Dash for the O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series sprint cars Crawley finished fifth in the Butlerbuilt Second Heat race. This made the task of winning three features in three classes much more daunting.

July 5, 2008 – Greenville , MS – A Greenville Speedway local favorite, Duke Palasini from Leland , Mississippi defended his home turf by winning the 25-lap Rislone USCS Modified Series Speedweek 2008 Round Three race at Greenville Speedway on Saturday night. Palasini led the field to the initial green flag from his pole position starting position and raced all the way to the Greenville Speedway victory lane for his second career Rislone USCS Modified Series feature win.

Hull led the final eight laps after passing another former track Champion, Ronnie Vernon from Friendship, Tennessee on lap seventeen and racing away to the Malden Speedway victory lane for his career-first Rislone USCS Modified Series feature win.

Gray scores $2000 O'Reilly USCS Firecracker 100 feature win at Camden Speedway

USCSGrayLucas.jpgJuly 3, 2008 - Camden, TN - Defending O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee beat current O’Reilly USCS Mid-South Thunder point’s leader, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas to the first turn in Thursday night’s O’Reilly USCS sprint car portion of the Firecracker 100 at Camden Speedway. Gray then held off the hard-charging Crawley through several caution periods that kept Crawley on his rear bumper to collect the $2000 paycheck for the win in the 30-lap winged sprint car main event. It was Gray’s second O’Reilly USCS feature win of the season.

MATT LINDER RACES TO CAREER-FIRST O'REILLY USCS WIN AT TRAVELERS REST

USCSLinder6.28.08FLPRO.jpgTravelers Rest, SC - June 28, 2008 – Second generation sprint car driver, Matt Linder from Hoschton, Georgia charged from outside the front row all the way to victory lane in the second half of the twin 20-lap O’Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series features presented by Lucas Oil at Travelers Rest Speedway on Saturday night. Linder said he “just really missed the set-up” for the fast 3/8 mile red clay oval in feature number one and finished in ninth place after starting seventh in that race. In the second feature race, Linder held off Pennsylvania hot-shoe Trevor Lewis from Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania for the entire twenty laps while the duo traded the lead mid-lap several times with Lewis actually scored as the leader on lap three.

In what was a storybook finish to a dream come true, Jeremy Scott from Franklin, Georgia battled his way to victory lane in the 1st Annual O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series Randy Helton Memorial Race at East Alabama Motor Speedway on Saturday night. It was Scott’s first-ever career feature win in the series he has participated in since 1998. The night’s events commemorated Scott’s close friend Randy Helton and Scott’s own Father Randy Scott who both passed away suddenly since the end of March.
