"$10,000 Triple Crown Challenge at Riverside on THURSDAY JULY 10th offers Ultimate Challenge

RIVERSIDE TRIPLE CROWN CHALLENGE NEWS: July 1, 2008 - Atlanta, Georgia - The Atlanta, Georgia based United Speed Contest Sanction has created what might be the Ultimate Challenge of short track events. On Thursday, July 10th at historic Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas the sanctioning body offers some pretty serious bread for a driver who can conquer what seems to be the ultimate short track challenge at the high-banked ¼ Gumbo clay oval well known for its torridly competitive racing action. The USCS has offered $10,000 including prize money and posted bonuses for any driver who can win the main event in three popular Mid-South racing divisions all in one night on July 10th. The divisions included in this challenging event are the Riverside Stock Cars (Street Stocks), the O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series (winged sprint cars) and the Rislone USCS Modified Series (open wheel modifieds).

MATT LINDER RACES TO CAREER-FIRST O'REILLY USCS WIN AT TRAVELERS REST

USCSLinder6.28.08FLPRO.jpgTravelers Rest, SC - June 28, 2008 – Second generation sprint car driver, Matt Linder from Hoschton, Georgia charged from outside the front row all the way to victory lane in the second half of the twin 20-lap O’Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series features presented by Lucas Oil at Travelers Rest Speedway on Saturday night. Linder said he “just really missed the set-up” for the fast 3/8 mile red clay oval in feature number one and finished in ninth place after starting seventh in that race. In the second feature race, Linder held off Pennsylvania hot-shoe Trevor Lewis from Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania for the entire twenty laps while the duo traded the lead mid-lap several times with Lewis actually scored as the leader on lap three.

BRIDGES RACES TO POPULAR O'REILLY USCS WIN AT CAROLINA SPEEDWAY

USCSBridge5.17.08.jpgJune 27, 2008 - Gastonia, NC - After setting fast time and a new track record of 13.49 seconds around the 4/10 mile clay oval, local racing hero, Johnny Bridges from Cherryville, North Carolina won the 30-lap O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series presented by Lucas Oil main event at Carolina Speedway on Friday night.  Bridges took the lead on lap three and led the final twenty-seven laps of the race. It was Bridges third O’Reilly USCS Southern Thunder Tour and “Thunder in the Carolinas” regional sprint car feature win of the season. The win came in front of the largest Carolina Speedway crowd of the season.

It was Scott’s first-ever career feature win in the series he has participated in since 1998. The night’s events commemorated Scott’s close friend Randy Helton and Scott’s own Father Randy Scott who both passed away suddenly since the end of March.

Martin won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat, then drew the pole in the K&N Filters Pole Draw before leading every lap of the 30-lap O’Reilly USCS Southern Thunder event around the high-banked red clay oval.

Skinner battled his Speedweek 2008 Co-Champion and rival  Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas for the entire 30 laps in the thriller. Crawley finished 2 car lengths back in the runner-up spot.

1st Annual Randy Helton Memorial Race set for East Alabama Motor Speedway on Saturday June 21st
USCSHeltonheadshot.jpgAtlanta, Ga – The 1st Annual Randy Helton Memorial race is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2008 at East Alabama Motor Speedway. The high-banked speed-plant located seven miles West of Phenix City, Alabama on US Highway 80 West was the late O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series driver’s favorite race track. The race is so named to commemorate the late Randy Helton from Palmetto, Georgia. Helton, 47, passed away on March 30, 2008. Helton raced regularly with the series for the last decade. Prior to starting his own career as a racer, Helton was also the crew chief for several seasons for O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series Founder and President, Pete Walton.

Crawley and Skinner share O?Reilly USCS Speedweek 2008 Crown

SPEEDWEEK NEWS - Atlanta, GA - June 1, 2008 - Two talented Arkansans, three time O’Reilly Speedweek 2008 feature winner, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas and 1999 O’Reilly USCS Champion, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas who finished all six A-Main events with no finish worst than seventh position tied in the final tabulation for the Speedweek title and we’re declared Co-Champions. The 2007 O’Reilly USCS Speedweek Champion, Terry Gray had the points lead slip from his grasp when the U-Joint in his #10 mount let go while in the runner-up position with 3-laps to go and settled for third place in the seven race mini-series points standings . Six events were counted in the total as Round Three at Clayhill Motorsports was rained out.

Crawley, who started ninth in the field made contact with the wall early in the race on lap four and spun out. He then charged from the rear of the talented field back to the front to pass six-time series Champion, Terry Gray in the final corner for the win.

Starting inside the front row by virtue of the K&N Pole Draw, Johnson beat two-time Speedweek winner Tim Crawley of Benton, Arkansas on the start and was never challenged despite four yellows and one red flag.
