Crawley tops Parts Plus USCS National and Mid South points
March 9, 2009 - Atlanta, GA - 2008 Parts Plus Mid South Thunder Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas leads the Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series National Point standings after a feature win in the series season-opener at Central Mississippi Speedway on Saturday night. The race which awarded Parts Plus Outlaw Thunder Tour National Championship points as well Parts Plus Mid South Thunder regional series points places Crawley at the top of the standings in both series sas of March 7th with 150 points. Defending National Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee trails Crawley by two points with 148 points after finishing in second place on Saturday night.

Rasdon captures Frostbuster Rislone USCS Modified season-opener at Central Mississippi Speedway
USCSOWMRasdon30709.jpgWinona, MS – March 7, 2009 – USCS Young Gun, Hunter Rasdon from Jonesboro, Arkansas raced from his outside front row starting position into the lead in turn one of the Rislone USCS (Oil Stabilizer) Modified Touring Series feature race into victory lane at Central Mississippi Speedway on Saturday night. Rasdon led all 25 laps of the main event in the USCS season-opener. Rasdon also drove his #R5 ATG Electrical Contractors/Integra Shocks/GRT car to a win his qualifying race on Friday night to put himself on the front row at the start. Rasdon had to hold off K&N Filters Pole Position starter Robby Arnold from Paragould, Arkansas for the 8+ mile distance to garner the win.

The USCS will sanction weekly racing for the Rislone USCS Modified style cars and competitors at a number of tracks during the 2009 season. The USCS Weekly Racing Series will allow a driver to stay home and compete for the Weekly Racing Series Championship. It also allows drivers to compete with virtually hundreds of drivers over the season without leaving their home-track.

A gathering of approximately fifty people honored ten sprint car drivers including Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee. Gray also won the Southern Thunder Tour title.


Ashley Newman honored as 2008 Rislone USCS Modified Series Champion

USCSOWMBANQUET08Newman.jpgAtlanta, Ga - January 12, 2008 - 120 attendees joined the United Speed Contest Sanction to honor Ashley Newman from Ripley, Tennessee as the 2008 Rislone USCS Modified Series Champion during the recent Champions Awards Banquet held Saturday night at the Hilton Memphis Convention Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Newman used a steady string of top five finishes and a pair of feature wins at Camden Speedway on May 29th and Columbus Speedway on May 31st to accumulate 2763 Championship points and garner the crown in the competitive third year of the series.

Newman drove his own #73 James Pest Management, Racing Head Service/Comp Cams sponsored Newman Fabrication engineered car He used a Paul Newman power plant under the hood. Other sponsors for the Championship team included Greg’s One Stop, Memphis Sign Solutions and Copeland Enterprises.

Crawley sweeps Gumbo Nationals and Mid-South season finale at Greenville Speedway

USCSCrawleyNov01.08.jpgGreenville Mississippi – Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas won the O’Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series Gumbo Nationals 2008 presented by Lucas Oil at Greenville Speedway on Saturday night. Crawley collected a $4400 paycheck for his efforts while besting a talented field that included drivers from eight states. Crawley completed a clean sweep of the weekend’s events by winning the six-car, six laps Lucas Oil Power Dash to place himself on the K&N Filters Pole for the 40-lap Gumbo Nationals finale. He then took full advantage of his starting position to dominate the race in the Ward Racing Boatersports sponsored #88 by leading every lap of the sprint car finale around the shiny black ¼ mile Gumbo clay oval. On Friday evening, Crawley set fast time and won the 12-lap Engler Machine and Tool First Qualifying race. Crawley was the inaugural Gumbo Nationals Champion winning last year’s title as well.

Landers wears 2008 Gumbo Nationals Rislone USCS Modified crown at Greenville Speedway

USCSOWMLanders11.01.2008.jpgGreenville Mississippi - November 1, 2008 - Open Wheel Modified hot-shoe, Jared Landers from Batesville, Arkansas won the Rislone USCS Modified Series portion of the Gumbo Nationals at Greenville Speedway on Saturday night. Landers took home $2100 for his evening’s efforts after leading every lap of the Championship race around the ¼ mile Gumbo oval. Hard-charging Rislone USCS young gun Hunter Rasdon from Jonesboro, Arkansas who started the race from ninth position, challenged Landers over the final dozen laps and finished five car lengths behind Landers at the finish. Another talented young gun, Cody Rowland from Nesbit, Mississippi had a career-best third place finish after starting in the main event from the eighth position. Two Friday nights qualifying race winners Brooks Strength from Byron, Mississippi who finished in the fourth position and Billy Collett from Clinton, Mississippi rounded out the top five finishers.
