Duke Palasini gets home track win in Rislone USCS Modified Speedweek Round 3 at Greenville

July 5, 2008 – Greenville , MS – A Greenville Speedway local favorite, Duke Palasini from Leland , Mississippi defended his home turf by winning the 25-lap Rislone USCS Modified Series Speedweek 2008 Round Three race at Greenville Speedway on Saturday night. Palasini led the field to the initial green flag from his pole position starting position and raced all the way to the Greenville Speedway victory lane for his second career Rislone USCS Modified Series feature win.

Larry Hull charges to Rislone USCS Modified Speedweek 2008 Round Two win at Malden Speedway

Hull led the final eight laps after passing another former track Champion, Ronnie Vernon from Friendship, Tennessee on lap seventeen and racing away to the Malden Speedway victory lane for his career-first Rislone USCS Modified Series feature win.


Gray scores $2000 O'Reilly USCS Firecracker 100 feature win at Camden Speedway

USCSGrayLucas.jpgJuly 3, 2008 - Camden, TN - Defending O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee beat current O’Reilly USCS Mid-South Thunder point’s leader, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas to the first turn in Thursday night’s O’Reilly USCS sprint car portion of the Firecracker 100 at Camden Speedway. Gray then held off the hard-charging Crawley through several caution periods that kept Crawley on his rear bumper to collect the $2000 paycheck for the win in the 30-lap winged sprint car main event. It was Gray’s second O’Reilly USCS feature win of the season.

Herndon wins Rislone USCS Modified Speedweek 2008 opener at Camden Speedway

Herndon from Atwood, Tennessee won the 25-lap Rislone USCS Modified Speedweek opener at Camden Speedway on Thursday night. Herndon led the final twenty-four laps after passing current series points leader, Ashley Newman from Ripley, Tennessee on lap two and racing away from the field in dominating fashion for his second win of the season.

On Thursday, July 10th at historic Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas the sanctioning body offers some pretty serious bread for a driver who can conquer what seems to be the ultimate short track challenge at the high-banked ¼ Gumbo clay oval well known for its torridly competitive racing action. The USCS has offered $10,000 including prize money and posted bonuses for any driver who can win the main event in three popular Mid-South racing divisions all in one night on July 10th. USCSLinder6.28.08FLPRO.jpgTravelers Rest, SC - June 28, 2008 – Second generation sprint car driver, Matt Linder from Hoschton, Georgia charged from outside the front row all the way to victory lane in the second half of the twin 20-lap O’Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series features presented by Lucas Oil at Travelers Rest Speedway on Saturday night. Linder said he “just really missed the set-up” for the fast 3/8 mile red clay oval in feature number one and finished in ninth place after starting seventh in that race. In the second feature race, Linder held off Pennsylvania hot-shoe Trevor Lewis from Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania for the entire twenty laps while the duo traded the lead mid-lap several times with Lewis actually scored as the leader on lap three.

The visiting Lines drove noted Cherryville, North Carolina car owner and crew chief, Jeff McCall’s #23 J&J Auto Racing car to his first O’Reilly USCS feature win and first win on US soil since arriving for a two month stint two weeks ago.

It was Bridges third O’Reilly USCS Southern Thunder Tour and “Thunder in the Carolinas” regional sprint car feature win of the season. The win came in front of the largest Carolina Speedway crowd of the season.

In what was a storybook finish to a dream come true, Jeremy Scott from Franklin, Georgia battled his way to victory lane in the 1st Annual O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series Randy Helton Memorial Race at East Alabama Motor Speedway on Saturday night. It was Scott’s first-ever career feature win in the series he has participated in since 1998. The night’s events commemorated Scott’s close friend Randy Helton and Scott’s own Father Randy Scott who both passed away suddenly since the end of March.

Skinner battled his Speedweek 2008 Co-Champion and rival  Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas for the entire 30 laps in the thriller. Crawley finished 2 car lengths back in the runner-up spot.

1st Annual Randy Helton Memorial Race set for East Alabama Motor Speedway on Saturday June 21st
USCSHeltonheadshot.jpgAtlanta, Ga – The 1st Annual Randy Helton Memorial race is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2008 at East Alabama Motor Speedway. The high-banked speed-plant located seven miles West of Phenix City, Alabama on US Highway 80 West was the late O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series driver’s favorite race track. The race is so named to commemorate the late Randy Helton from Palmetto, Georgia. Helton, 47, passed away on March 30, 2008. Helton raced regularly with the series for the last decade. Prior to starting his own career as a racer, Helton was also the crew chief for several seasons for O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series Founder and President, Pete Walton.

The win came in the 25-lap Open Wheel Modified portion of the United Speed Contest Sanctioned 10th Annual “Columbus Clash”.
Crawley and Skinner share O?Reilly USCS Speedweek 2008 Crown

SPEEDWEEK NEWS - Atlanta, GA - June 1, 2008 - Two talented Arkansans, three time O’Reilly Speedweek 2008 feature winner, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas and 1999 O’Reilly USCS Champion, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas who finished all six A-Main events with no finish worst than seventh position tied in the final tabulation for the Speedweek title and we’re declared Co-Champions. The 2007 O’Reilly USCS Speedweek Champion, Terry Gray had the points lead slip from his grasp when the U-Joint in his #10 mount let go while in the runner-up position with 3-laps to go and settled for third place in the seven race mini-series points standings . Six events were counted in the total as Round Three at Clayhill Motorsports was rained out.
