In what was a storybook finish to a dream come true, Jeremy Scott from Franklin, Georgia battled his way to victory lane in the 1st Annual O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series Randy Helton Memorial Race at East Alabama Motor Speedway on Saturday night. It was Scott’s first-ever career feature win in the series he has participated in since 1998. The night’s events commemorated Scott’s close friend Randy Helton and Scott’s own Father Randy Scott who both passed away suddenly since the end of March.

Danny Martin grabs first 2008 O'Reilly USCS win at Penton Raceway

Martin won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat, then drew the pole in the K&N Filters Pole Draw before leading every lap of the 30-lap O’Reilly USCS Southern Thunder event around the high-banked red clay oval.

SPEEDWAY: USCSSkinnervlane6.14.08.jpgJune 14, 2008 - Winona, MS: Past O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series Champion, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas scored his first feature win of the 2008 season in the 30-lap O'Reilly USCS Mid South Thunder main event at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, Mississippi on Saturday night. Skinner battled his Speedweek 2008 Co-Champion and rival  Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas for the entire 30 laps in the thriller. Crawley finished 2 car lengths back in the runner-up spot.

1st Annual Randy Helton Memorial Race set for East Alabama Motor Speedway on Saturday June 21st
USCSHeltonheadshot.jpgAtlanta, Ga – The 1st Annual Randy Helton Memorial race is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2008 at East Alabama Motor Speedway. The high-banked speed-plant located seven miles West of Phenix City, Alabama on US Highway 80 West was the late O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series driver’s favorite race track. The race is so named to commemorate the late Randy Helton from Palmetto, Georgia. Helton, 47, passed away on March 30, 2008. Helton raced regularly with the series for the last decade. Prior to starting his own career as a racer, Helton was also the crew chief for several seasons for O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series Founder and President, Pete Walton.

Newman goes two-in-a-row in Rislone USCS Mods with Columbus Speedway last lap win

The win came in the 25-lap Open Wheel Modified portion of the United Speed Contest Sanctioned 10th Annual “Columbus Clash”.
Crawley and Skinner share O?Reilly USCS Speedweek 2008 Crown

SPEEDWEEK NEWS - Atlanta, GA - June 1, 2008 - Two talented Arkansans, three time O’Reilly Speedweek 2008 feature winner, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas and 1999 O’Reilly USCS Champion, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas who finished all six A-Main events with no finish worst than seventh position tied in the final tabulation for the Speedweek title and we’re declared Co-Champions. The 2007 O’Reilly USCS Speedweek Champion, Terry Gray had the points lead slip from his grasp when the U-Joint in his #10 mount let go while in the runner-up position with 3-laps to go and settled for third place in the seven race mini-series points standings . Six events were counted in the total as Round Three at Clayhill Motorsports was rained out.

The talented seventeen year-old led every lap of main event while racing high on the race track with his right rear tire against the wall most of the distance around the historic 3/10 mile red clay oval known as the “Baddest Bullring in the South”. It was the talented young gun’s third O’Reilly USCS feature win over the past year.

Crawley, who started ninth in the field made contact with the wall early in the race on lap four and spun out. He then charged from the rear of the talented field back to the front to pass six-time series Champion, Terry Gray in the final corner for the win.

The O’Reilly USCS Mid South Thunder point’s leader, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas, and six-time O’Reilly USCS National Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee battled wheel-to wheel for 25-laps around Greenville Speedway’s ¼ mile Gumbo clay surface on Sunday night. The duo swapped the lead four times but racing was even more tenacious than that before Crawley passed Gray entering turn three to grab the lead for the final time on lap sixteen of the 30-lap battle royale.

It was the young driver’s second career O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series feature win. The hard fought victory came over a tough field of highly ranked drivers from seven states in the first of seven rounds of competition in the 3rd Annual O’Reilly USCS Speedweek.
