USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour sprint cars headline Freakin’ Fast Friday event at Penton Ra eway on Friday (8/04/2017)

 

Atlanta, GA – August 3, 2017 – The United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars keep a busy 50 plus race 2017 schedule rolling with their 37th scheduled event of the 2017 season for the Freakin’ Fast Friday event at Penton Raceway near La Fayette, Alabama this Friday, August 4th.

 

The event will be the first race for the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour drivers at the 1/3 mile Alabama red clay oval since 2009 when 11-time USCS National Campion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee parked his famed #10 car in the www.RockAuto.com USCS Victory Lane.

 

The defending USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour National Champion, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee leads the USCS drivers into Penton Raceway for Friday’s event.  She is currently the winningest driver in the series for the 2017 season with nine victories.  

 

Joining Turpen at the top of the entry list is eleven-time USCS National Champion and current points leader, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee and USCS Southern Thunder regional points leader, Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, Arkansas who is also only two points out of first place in the National standings going into the weekend.

 

Other entries include, several other USCS Rookie of the Year drivers. Those include, 2016 USCS Rookie of the Year, Danny Sams III from Englewood, Florida and 2014 USCS Rookie of the Year, Brandon McLain from Indian Trail, North Carolina. The 2012 USCS Rookie of the Year, Jeff Willingham from Ripley, Mississippi is entered and is currently fourth in the National point standings. Morgan Turpen was the 2010 USCS Rookie of the Year and Jordon Mallett claimed that honor in 2011.

 

In all at least seven Florida drivers are expected to be part of the USCS winged sprint car invasion. Danny Martin, Jr. from Sarasota, Florida and Tony Agin from Fort Myers, Florida who is fifth in the current USCS National point standings are also at top the list. Martin was a five-time 2016 USCS feature winner.  

 

Also expected from Jacksonville, Florida are Terry Witherspoon and Tanner Witherspoon. Garrett Green from Valrico, Florida is another Sunshine State entry. At least three Georgia drivers are entered for the prestigious event, Brain Thomas and Jeff Oliver, both from Pendergrass, as are Joe Larkin from Suwannee, Georgia and Rookie of the Year contender, seventeen-year-old Brandon Taylor from Cumming, Georgia..

 

Scott Hunter from Concord, North Carolina and Don Warren from Clarksville, Tennessee are two Rookie of the Year contenders who are entered. Hunter became one of just a handful of Rookie drivers to ever win a USCS event at Lancaster Speedway on July 22nd when he parked his #1x in the www.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane as the main event winner.

 

In addition to the 120 miles per hour USCS winged sprint cars, four Penton Raceway weekly racing divisions join the action with the USCS sprint cars on Friday night.

 

Friday’s USCS sprint car division racing card will include a full racing program that includes Test and Tune Hot Laps, the Hoosier Speed Dash, qualifying heat races and the 30-lap A-main event.
