Sammy Swindell wins USCS Sprint Speedweek Round #5 at Talladega

Eastaboga, AL - May 31, 2018 - Sammy Swindell from Germantown, TN raced to the win in the United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters 13th Annnual USCS Sprint Speedweek Round #5 at Talladega Short Track on Thursday night. Swindell passed 2013 USCS National Champion  Derek Hagar from Marion, AR on lap 5 for the lead and never looked back on his way to the www.RockAuto.com USCS Victory Lane  Hagar followed Swindell across the finish line in the runner-up spot at the end of the 30-lap contest.

Three-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Tony Stewart from Brownsburg, IN followed the duo in the K&N Filters Podium award third place. Sprint Car Hall of Famer, Danny Smith from Chillicothe, OH was fourth at the finish and Byhalia, Mississippi's Dale Howard rounded out the top five.

Past Champion Marshall Skinner from Marion, AR led the next group to the finish line in sixth place.Skinner was followed by two-time USCS Champion, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, TN in seventh place with 11-time series National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, TN in eighth place. Defending USCS National Champion, Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, AR finished ninth and USCS Sprint Speedweek Jackson Motor Speedway winner, Shane Morgan from Bioxi, MS rounded out the top ten..

In preliminary action, Morgan Turpen won the USCS Hoosier Speed Dash. Danny Smith won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Tony Stewart charged to victory in the Brown and Miller Racing Solutions Second Heat. Morgan Turpen saw the checkers first again in the Butlerbuilt Third Heat. 

Jake Knight from Georgetown, MS garnered the evening's Wilwood.   Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award for advancing the most positions in the main event.
