Trey Robb claims fifth O’Reilly USCS win of the season.

September 01, 2007

Braselton, GA. (September 1, 2007) – Fifteen year-old Trey Robb from Newcastle, Oklahoma captured his fifth career O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series feature while sweeping Saturday night's O’Reilly USCS Asphalt Thunder Tour event at Lanier National Speedway.

Robb set fast time and then won both the Lucas Oil Power Dash and the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat Race. The teenager then fought off challenges through lap twenty-two from defending series Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee. The four car lead pack battle also included veteran Doug Day from Winder, Georgia and English road racing transplant Adam Jackson from Birmingham, England.

After drawing a zero inversion in the K&N Filters Pole Award draw, Robb started from the pole position and fought off Gray’s advances and raced away unscathed from the field after enduring two caution periods. The first for rookie of the year candidate Lee Moore’s power steering pump failure and ensuing fluid loss. The second one removed day from the race with a blown engine while running fourth after racing as high up as third.

At the finish line behind Robb who won his fourth O’Reilly USCS event in a row was Terry Gray in the runner-up spot followed by to rookies Adam Jackson and Nick DeFeo from Marietta, Georgia in fourth place. O’Reilly USCS dirt track veteran drove to a fifth place finish.

A pair of teammates, USCS veteran Randy Helton from Palmetto, Georgia and son Matt Helton also from almetto, Georgia followed in the sixth and seventh positions. Dan Statter from Deltona, Florida and Jimmy Kissinger from the same hometown followed in eighth and ninth positions. Doug Day rounded out the top ten.

Terry Gray won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat Race. Dan Statter picked up the Huggins Cams Hard Charger award. Trey Robb garnered the Hoosier tire Young Guns award for his efforts. Adam Jackson garnered the Robison Racing Rookie of the Race award.
